Comments about Yamaha YFL-361 Series Intermediate Flute:

I wanted to replace my study flute pearl 501, because it was already getting old( 7 years). I got the YFL 361H, with the gold plated lip plate, and Ii was surprised to see that the sound of this flute was way worse than my old flute!! Then as I could not believe it, I switched the headjoints with my old pearl flute, and definitely it turned out to be the problem! the offset G is nice, the gizmo key works nice, the open holes are pretty useful, but it seems as if the embrochure hole is too small, or somehow the headjoint itself does not produce a clear sound, for example you can not make bends by turning the angle of attack ot the air because you have to hit the exact angle, making it more difficult to play, and also, the quality of the sound is not good at all. My old flute outperforms the yamaha! I see it is made in indonesia? maybe the quality control is not so good. STAY AWAY from this flute, check out other options like pearl, a much better price and much better sound, or check out other yamaha flutes: I played the yfl 261 and is much better than this one.
