Top-of-the-line flute featuring Pearl's pinless mechanism and one-piece core-bar construction.
The Pearl 9800 Silver Maesta is one of the crown jewels of Pearl flutes. It features a .925 solid silver body, keywork, and footjoint. The 9800 has drawn toneholes, French pointed arms and white gold springs. It features Pearl's patented Pinless Mechanism, which has set an industry benchmark for smoothness and reliability. Coupled with Pearl's One-Piece Core-Bar Construction, there is no more dependable flute mechanism available.
The foundation of every Pearl flute is a patented Pinless construction, which eliminates the problems of traditional flute construction - protruding needles that snag clothing and give easy entry to perspiration and body acids causing corrosion and binding keys. Besides this unique Pinless construction, Pearl flutes have additional bridge mechanisms that add strength to the entire mechanism. Plus, socket-head screws are inserted from the underside of the key work, preventing the entry of perspiration into the mechanism.
The One-Piece Core-Bar construction of all Pearl Flutes eliminates many of the wear-and-tear problems associated with traditionally constructed flutes, specifically in the areas of the high C key and the king post next to the F# key. Pearl has designed one rod that extends from high C through the king post resulting in an extremely reliable mechanism that plays more comfortably, stays in adjustment longer and is easier to service.
The Maesta is available with either the Forte F4000 Headjoint, or the Vivace VI4000H HeadJoint:
Forte Headjoint F4000
The essential acoustical element of every flute is the headjoint. For this reason alone, every headjoint must be handmade. The Forte headjoint is a crowning achievement for Pearl. This headjoint is designed for larger orchestras and concert halls. The Forte is very responsive, and produces a dark centered tone. A wide dynamic range is ensured throughout the entire registers.
Vivace Headjoint VI4000H
The essential acoustical element of every flute is the headjoint. For this reason alone, every headjoint must be handmade. The Vivace headjoint offers a little less undercutting while maintaining crisp, clear and fast articulation. Players requiring more resistance will enjoy this headjoint.
