Big sound for the contemporary player.

For the pro-player that wants to make a statement, this is your saxophone! The MAC 8 Series Saxophones, unlike any of our other series of horns, offers a larger bore, enlarged bell size, and double key arms on the low C and B keys. The result is a huge low end sound, but also one that will scream in the upper register.

MACSAX also added extra support between the bell and body, along with a special bracket for the left hand spatula. The added brace provides positive pinky finger action for fast, smooth low end fingering. The MAC 8 has rock solid ergonomics and boasts a complex, rich, full, and warm sound.

Big Sound, Very good intonation

from Austin Texas

About Me Professional Musician

  • Big Sound
  • Easy To Play

Comments about MACSAX MAC 8 Tenor Saxophone:

I went to Mac Sax in Austin to test the Empyreal Tenor Sax. After playing it I wasn't impressed. The sound seemed spread and unfocused. The sax had too much resistance for me. I was about to leave and decided to test play the Mac 8. I was surprised by the big sound and projection. I was easier to play than the Empyreal. Based on this, I bought a Mac 8 from Music123. Has some tonal characteristics of a Super 20 that I used to play, but with better action and also sounds somewhat like the original SA 80. Doesn't quite have the character of my Mk VI, but better intonation and a bigger sound. Altissimo G is very easy to hit on this sax. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for having to lighten up the springs. The keys had a little too much resistance right out of the case.
