Perfect for Jazz, Rock, and Pop Playing!

The Harry Hartmann Carbon Series Fiberreeds use high-tech carbon fiber with hollow connecting fiber. The interweaving of the different fibers results in a very true feeling reed. The weave of the fibers is designed to emulate natural cane in ways that no other synthetic reed can. The Carbon fiberreeds reproduce the tendencies of natural cane to be very strong towards the outside (the bark) and more resonant yet not soft at the heart, while being very flexible at the vamp.

The result is a very full sound with direct response and a beaming upper register. The top choice of pop and jazz musicians.

  • Lasts 20-30 times longer than cane reeds
  • Play immediately, no soaking or break-in period
  • Extremely resistant to warping and splitting
  • Perfectly consistent
  • Never dries out
  • Easy to clean, resulting in a hygienic and odorless reed even after months of play
  • Made in Germany

Comments about Harry Hartmann Carbon Fiberreed Tenor Saxophone Reed:

I am on my second Hartmann carbon fiber reed for tenor. The first elicited several listener comments to me who 1. said they could really hear me play, perhaps for the first time, and 2. they liked the tonality. It does make me want to play loudly on the high end, which I like. I'm not totally thrilled with the tone when playing softly, especially in the mid range of the horn. The low sub tones, however were easier than any reed I had used before. It was a medium soft so, overall, it was easier (less physical effort) to play. The second reed is a medium. I'm able to play louder yet, with some improvement tone wise. The upper range of the horn (Mark VII) seems to be much more audible and does produce a cane like sonority. Since I started using them many people have said how much they like my playing. I'm not actually sure, but maybe I am playing differently due to it's presence. It gives me a little more confidence to experiment melodically. The first one only lasted three months, even tho the left side of the reed seemed to be coming apart, probably because I damaged it with my reed cap. It also began to kind of curl up around the edges...but it continues to function acceptably anyway. I'm sold on Hartnmann Fiberreeds. Perhaps, needless to say, it is great to never have to be concerned with preparing a reed (sucking on it, etc.) to play. Just start playing the moment the instrument is assembled.
