Comments about e-Sax Practice Mute System for Alto Saxophone II:
I use the eSax in a four-story apartment in the Ixelles commune of Brussels, Belgium.
In the past I had to limit my practice time to an hour a day in the early evening, or I would face angry neighbours.
Since I've been using the eSax, I've played in the morning, afternoon, and late evening for several hours a day without a word from the neighbours. The neighbour above my apartment used to play classical music loudly during my practice sessions, now she lets me play in quiet.
I'm completely satisfied with the muting capabilities of the eSax.
The case, while durable and in good shape when it arrived, has a piece of foam lining that repeatedly peels off near where the neck leaves the eSax.
The sound quality is decent, though not particularly pleasurable to listen to without headphones. With headphones the sound quality is much improved, however perhaps because of the intense resonance created by playing in such a compact chamber, the eSax is a very frank teller of sound quality. This is not a flaw, but you must bear in mind that, especially if you are an amateur, you will not sound particularly good to your own ears inside this mute, until you can develop your technique sufficiently.
I purchased this product in Belgium and shipping costs plus VAT together equaled about half the original price. Beware if you are purchasing from other countries with similar tax policies.
