Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Straight Soprano Saxophone with 2 Necks:
I have played the lacquer version for about 3 months in weekly gigs. This was a move up from a worn out Jupiter 547gl. I use a Meyer 7 mouthpiece with a 3 Fibracell reed and get a great, dark tone. As I think is typical on sopranos, the lowest register is the best. Anything over high C is difficult for me but this may be the mouthpiece -reed combination and my own abilities. I can only play it up to E but don't like the shrill sound of any soprano up there any way. Plays to low Bb effortlessly. This sax is built in Viet Nam and for 6 years I have played an alto and tenor (Chateau-Tenon-Orpheo) probably built in the same factory. Very high build quality. This horn has very tight and precise action. I love it. I rate 4 stars only because there probably are better out there, but for 3-4 times the price. The case is odd but gives good protection.
