Comments about Vestax VCI-100 Tabletop DJ MIDI Controller:

I was a little skeptical at first as to the durbaility of this product, i.e. the build quality with the knobs and faders etc...being that I never had touched the device before I purchased it. Once opened and set down your first impression is, wow this is sturdy. It's made of aluminum for the main frame and the jog wheels and has a professional weight to it along with rubber feet so it's stable. The knobs and faders are plastic but still have some good tension. My favorite parts of the vci 100 are the plug and play use, I didn't have to install any drivers to use with traktor Pro and I love the led lights. The jogwheel lights up blue and then when you touch it they turn red. The jog wheels have amazing response time and could even be used for scratching. The surface is like the iPod's interface in that it responds to touch, so if you had gloves for whatever reason on they would not respond. My only complaint about the device is that the because their are so many buttons and traktor pro is newer than the VCI 100, no maps have been released, so mapping this thing takes a long time, another thing is that the black knobds in the top right corner and the two in between the eq's are so small that they are difficult to use on the fly. Overall I would recoomend this device, I was between the torq xponent and am happy I got the vci because it looks the part much more.
