Very Pleased Indeed!

Comments about Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

My band had a rather important gig recently, so I decided it was time for a new vocal mic. I went to one of my local retailers to check out what was available and the sales guy said I should check out the e835. They had most of their in-stock models hooked up through a very nice Allen & Heath console with all the eq set flat and gains all set the same. I A/B'ed the 835 with several other mics in or above the price range; sm58, sm57, beta 58, om2, om5, pl84, nd767, and for my voice (alto/ baritone) it beat them all. It was far cleaner and crisper sounding than any or the shures that I tried, including the beta! I find the 835 a very "workable" mic for stage use. It handled everything I threw at it at our last gig, which was outside by the way, from the slightest whisper to my loudest bellow with clarity and intelligibility that can only be rivaled by mics costing 3 to 4 times this price.
The 835 has very little proximity effect, which makes it great for stage use. It doesn't get boomy when you get real close, and when you back off some it still retains the bottom end. This is a good feature if you sing both lead and harmonies. You can run this mic pretty hot without feedback as long as you know how to properly position your monitors. I can't speak for durability for I haven't had it that long, but it is very solidly built and I try to take care with my equipment, so I figure this will do me well for quite some time.
Overall I am very happy with my decision to go with the e835. For my voice, I don't think there is a better mic out there at this price point. Try one, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.

Great Mic

Ask me a question

Comments about Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I have been using this mic for about 5 months and, I own sm58's but, I have to say that I usually go to this mic for my performance. When we setup I get both mics out and, plug them both in to my mic cable and, the e835 wins. I really didn't think that when I bought this mic that it would take the place of my sm58 but, as of late that is exactly what has happened. I'm knocking the sm58 and, I will continue to own them but, if something owuld happen to the e835 I would definately get another.

Great mic, better than Shure as far as I am concerned!

Comments about Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I started using this in the studio on guitar after running out of SM57s and this mic provided a much rounder and transparent sound. Now I use this on guitars most of the time.Live it is a great generic singing mic - clean and can handle high signal levels with minimum feedback. The only drawback is the lack of an on/off switch but the e845 has that if it is important for you.

pretty good

Comments about Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

I was trying to decide between this mic and a Sure SM58. I knew the sm58 was a classic but I was eventually talked into this. I'm glad I was! This mic is excellent for studio recording or live sound. There is very little feedback, if any when playing. This mic also can handle anything U throw at it. I even recorded drum tracks with this and everything is crystal clear. The only drawback is it doesn't have an on/off switch :(

Good quality, but pick up a little weak

Comments about Sennheiser e 835 Cardioid Dynamic Vocal Microphone:

You really have to "eat" this mic when using with a vocal group, otherwise you need to crank the gain to dangerous levels.
