Comments about Line 6 BackTrack Portable Digital Recorder:

I had been eying this for a long time when I finally picked it up. I'm glad I did, but I don't use it as often as I thought I would. So let's look at it's pro's and cons. PROS: 1) Hallelujah they used .wav instead of a proprietary format. This means you can use what music editing software you like, such as Audacity. 2) Hallelujah they used USB for connecting instead of a proprietary format, so you can connect it to any computer around and save what you've got. You can also charge it by any USB phone charger. 2) Came with a 1 foot instrument cable so you don't have to buy another if you don't want to. 3) By pressing Play and Mark buttons, you can record continuously, a remarkable feature because of... CONS: 1) Automatic Recording is not very sensitive (for me, who just happens to play lightly). 2) Playback on computer is very quiet, but it should be noted that this is because the device records at line level, and your Amp is what makes your sound loud. You can amplify your sound in Audacity later, or connect your BT to Line Out to record at a louder volume. 3) You will need to install some software to configure your BT, However, this is not necessary when only transferring files. If your BT freezes and doesn't start up, use a paper clip to restart it by holding the clip in the small hold on the side opposite playback buttons. You're welcome, I nearly sent mine back because it locked up and I didn't know what to do. There are probably better recorders out there, and maybe at a better price. Ultimately, its useful, but you could probably live without it or find a better recorder if you can't..
