A 24-bit/96khz FireWire interface with pristine audio quality and reliable synchronization.

The Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, a multichannel FireWire audio interface designed with today's project studio in mind, and delivers the sound quality of much more expensive interfaces.

Focusrite's unparalleled preamp legacy forms the foundation of the Saffire Pro 40 interface, with eight award-winning Focusrite preamps. These are combined with the latest in FireWire interfacing technology to deliver seamless integration, excellent routing flexibility and future-proof, rock-solid driver stability.

With the Saffire PRO 40 interface, sonic integrity reigns supreme. The eight Focusite preamps ensure low noise and distortion, while quality digital conversion and JetPLL jitter elimination technology ensure pristine audio quality as your audio flows between the analogue and digital domains.

Alongside the eight Focusrite preamps are a host of I/O options; 10 analog outputs, ADAT I/O, stereo SPDIF I/O, and 2 virtual "loopback" inputs for routing digital audio between software applications. Every channel features phantom power, with the first two channels also featuring -9dB pads for additional headroom. Front panel 5-LED metering for each analog input offers accurate viewing of levels.

Saffire PRO 40 comes with the Focusrite plug-in suite. Focusrite Compression, Reverb, Gating and EQ VST/AU plug-ins provide a significant upgrade from standard sequencer effects, bringing a touch of class to your session. Focusrite's established Xcite+ bundle is also included. The bundle includes Ableton Live Lite, Novation's Bass Station soft synth and over 1 gigabyte of royalty-free samples.

Saffire PRO 40 Control, the zero-latency 18 x 16 DSP Mixer/Router software provided with Saffire PRO 40, sets a new standard at this price point for audio interface control. It features unparalleled output routing and monitoring, as well as intuitive one-click solutions, a clear and concise mixing layout and large on-screen metering for inputs, outputs and submixes.

Two independent headphone buses are provided, each with their own level controls available on the front panel. A dedicated stereo monitor mix output features pads for improved sound quality when connected to active monitor speakers. An 'anti-thump' circuit protects your monitor speakers from spikes when booting up or shutting down. Front panel controls include a main monitor dial with dim and mute switches, all of which fully integrate with customizable software to cover every possible monitoring need, providing a set of controls for any setup from basic stereo to full 7.1 surround.

Focusrite's popular Saffire Firewire interfaces are fully compatible with Thunderbolt ports on Mac computers. All you need to connect the two is a FireWire 400-800 cable (included with all new Saffire interfaces later this year) and the Thunderbolt to FireWire 800 adapter (not included). Simply plug this into the Thunderbolt port on your computer and connect the FireWire interface - it's as simple as that. Saffire interfaces are 100% compatible with Thunderbolt using this adaptor.

All Saffire FireWire and Thunderbolt-compatible interfaces now come bundled with Focusrite's Midnight plug-in suite for free upon registration. The Midnight plug-in suite models two of the most iconic Focusrite modules of all time - the ISA110 equaliser and ISA130 compressor - and gives them elegant, functional on-screen front panels for easy control.

Note: Includes the Focusrite Red 2 and Red 3 Plug-In Suite (AAX/AU/VST) upon registration of interface. Accurately modeled on the classic Red 2 EQ and Red 3 Compressor, the Red plug-ins let you exploit the sound of the hardware originals, conveniently from within Pro Tools (10 and above) and other audio software.

Rock solid performance and sound right out of the box

Comments about Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 FireWire Interface:

Ok. So, I have probably owned about 10 different sound interfaces over the past decade. Until I found saffire, I didn't know that there were some out there which didn't require constant fiddling to get them working. This is my second saffire interface and I am truly blown away with the reliability and quality. Literally plugged it into my mac, installed the current drivers, and away I was recording. I pretty much knew the software ahead of time. So, that wasn't an issue for me. It may be intimidating to folks not used to the layout at first. But, basically, you don't need to use 80% of what is there. It is only there for you to use if you want that added flexibility of creating custom mixes. The nuts and bolts of recording and playback are pretty much ready to go when you load the software.

Preamp quality is very impressive from saffire. I have used quite a few different brands and I honestly think that saffire has some of the best for the money. Very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone who is ready to forget about all the horror stories of getting your interface working and start recording. Why don't the other manufacturers understand that is all we want to do in the first place.

GET IT! I am sure you will be happy. I certainly am
