THe CAD KBM412 Bass & Kick Drum Microphone is specifically designed for bass drum and other low-frequency sources. Its large neodymium diaphragm element offers extended low frequency response down to 25Hz and high SPL handling. Rugged die-cast microphone body with a hardened external screen retainer (also includes a shockmount saddle), provides isolation and excellent protection from mechanical noise. The CAD KBM412 also performs extremely well as a dynamic mic for large toms and other large-diameter percussive instruments in addition to bass and guitar amps.

Comments about CAD KBM412 Bass and Kick Drum Microphone:

Is it an AKG D112, Shure Beta 52 or an Audix D6? No. But honestly, in live music, you're probably not going to tell the difference unless you're a brand name purist who listens with preferential feelings instead of with their ears. I've played drums for 35 years with several bands (rock, jazz, orchestra) and currently play drums (maple Gretsch kit) in the worship band at church. I purchased this mic and mounted it internally using a Kelly Shu type mount and I use an Audix for the overhead. I have Audix mics for the toms and an SM57 for the snare. I could have purchased a more expensive mic but chose not to (Why should I?). Our sound tech is a seasoned pro who has used every high end kick mic made in both the studio and live and he is totally amazed. I can't say enough about it. I was concerned that he would berate me for picking it over an AKG, Shure or Audix. He's getting both the boom and the click. No other mic in this range will touch it.

distorts low frequencies

Comments about CAD KBM412 Bass and Kick Drum Microphone:

2 stars may be generous...picks up relatively wide range of frequencies for a "bass and kick drum" microphone and distorts the lowest frequencies...i had to return it; would not recommend for recording low frequency sounds
