A vacuum tube condenser mic that excels across a wide range of input levels so you can pick up every detail of your studio and live performances.

The sound of tube mics is undeniably rich and smooth. At the heart of each Behringer T-1 condenser mic is a hand-selected 12AX7 tube, which has been specifically designed to give these recording microphones their incredible sonic character. One advantage tube condensers have over their solid-state counterparts is that they are not subject to the rapid rise of odd-order harmonics, which the ear perceives as highly unmusical. Even when subjected to high sound pressure levels, the T-1 condenser mic reacts in much the same way the human ear does.

An ideal kick-drum mic
While this condenser mic can handle input levels as high as 130dB, the T-1 comes equipped with a switchable -20dB pad for the extremely high transients generated by kick-drums and heavy-metal vocalists. With its 20Hz to 20kHz frequency range, the T-1 can handle all the low-frequency content you can throw at it, and still provide all the definition your sound source deserves.

Cardioid polar pattern

Behringer T-1 Tube Condenser Mics feature a tight cardioid (heart-shaped) sound-reception pattern, which reduces the pickup of sound from the sides and rear for improved source isolation. The included custom shock mount fits all standard microphone stands and provides further isolation from external sources of vibration, such as sounds transmitted through floor joists and outside traffic.

Dedicated power supply
The included Behringer PSU-T power supply/preamp provides the supply voltage for the tube preamplifier and houses a Low Cut switch that can be used to reduce the low frequency response, if so desired. The included 7-pin multi-core cable supplies power to the mic and routes the audio signal to the XLR socket on the PSU-T.

The ultimate recording mic
Since the early days of recording, sound engineers have been searching for the best-sounding mics for recording acoustic instruments and the human voice. The resounding choice of professional recordists around the globe has been the tube condenser microphone because nothing compares to a sound that's so open, warm, and full of character. Unfortunately, tube mics can wipe out a home-recording budget faster than you can say "phantom power supply." But with the T-1, anyone who can afford a decent live microphone can have a studio-grade, tube-powered condenser mic for about the same price.

The T-1's sensitive side
Another advantage of tube mics is that they typically outperform transistor designs when it comes to subtle signal levels, such as environmental ambiance. The T-1 condenser mic picks up every nuance of your performance, capturing an openly transparent slice of time and space with just the right amount of tube warmth. Now you'll be able to justify that new set of strings for your acoustic guitar (because you'll hear the difference), and you'll marvel at the sparkling highlights coming off your wind chimes.

    Great studio mic!

Comments about Behringer T-1 Tube Condenser Mic:

I ordered this mic for vocals in the studio. I always seem to have issue getting the vocals loud enough with my previous mics I used. Getting too much hiss or background noise if I turned up enough to get them loud enough. My voice isn't that strong.
I have enjoyed this mic for vocals, I get lots more power out of it than the previous ones I used. The sound is also richer and just better. Now, if I could just get a better voice!
I have also used the mic for acoustic guitars and it works fantastic. Again, better than my previous choices. Recently, I tracked my drumset and used the tube mic on the kick drum. Sounded great! I then used my old "kick" mic on my floor tom and it seemed to get a better response than just the normal "tom/snare" type mics.
The fact that you have the -20 button on the mic, allows you to go from acoustics or vocals right over to drums no problem. The low frequency filter is helpful as well.
I love the separate power box on this unit. The cable is very long that goes from the mic to the box, then you just use a normal mic cable from the box to your sound card. Having the long cable helps with positioning the mic. I just leave it plugged into the box and am able to move it anywhere in the room at any time.
I think this would be a good mic for live performance, but have not tested, as I haven't performed live in a while.

Excellent Mic for a Excellent Price

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Behringer T-1 Tube Condenser Mic:

My son I have been using condenser mics in our studio for the last 7 years. We started out with some inexpensive mics and upgraded to a little more expensive condenser mics including the Sterling Audio ST-55 and Shure KSM27 (both are excellent mics). As we progressed with our recording skills, we wanted to obtain a more natural sound for our acoustic instruments and vocals. I decided to take the next step and get a tube mic. My research led me to the Behringer T-1 condenser tube mic. I bought one and both my son and I gave it a good work out. Since then, I bought an additional 3 Behringer T-1 mics, re-recorded my latest album with it and my son has recorded and entire new album with his T-1 mics. If you want a very natural sound to your recordings, this mic will provide it to you at an excellent price.
