Quick and easy preamplification for studio or stage.

Behringer MIC200 Tube Ultragain

The MIC200 can be used to warm-up the sterile, analytical sound of standard digital recordings and sound cards. It is also the perfect complement to studio-grade condenser microphones. When used as a high-end DI-box, it provides outstanding signal integrity. The TUBE ULTRAGAIN MIC200 includes a phase reverse switch, +48 V phantom power and 20 dB pad. Balanced 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs and gold-plated XLR connectors provide a nice finishing touch. In addition, it utilizes a carefully selected 12AX7 vacuum tube with UTC technology for exceptional warmth and low noise.

  • Modeling preamp w/16 voicings
  • Integrated limiter
  • 12AX7 vacuum tube
  • Phase reverse switch
  • +48V phantom power
  • 20dB pad
  • 1/4" TRS and gold-plated XLR I/O

Couldn't ask for more.

Comments about Behringer MIC200 Tube ULTRAGAIN Preamp:

Wow, for the price it has a ton of features. And the most important thing though is that it works great. I didn't have to change the tube because it wasn't thin or hissy (I've had to change stock tubes on guitar amps before). Clean recordings sounding just like the all-tube guitar amp i'm recording is what I get. I like the options of using either tube or solid state preamping and the limiter. It seems sturdyish, but I would baby it it you are using it for recording. I will be using it for mics into a digital interface (I was getting weak hissy signals before I put this inline). If using it for an gigging instrument preamp, be careful. It has the ability to be used to add some lively harmonics to a dull solid state amp but look elsewhere to get some crunch (I'm not a tube snob, I like both transister and tube breakup, but some solid state amps can benifit from some tube zing). It's not going to rob any bass frequencies like a tube pedal. I noticed that it is more unforgiving than normal on marginal instument cords when I tried it on my solid state amp. I would try several cords before I judged the device a dud. But I'm telling you that if you have to return it, try another one because it's worth it.

MIC 200 good..

Comments about Behringer MIC200 Tube ULTRAGAIN Preamp:

I use the preamp with keyboards to smooth the sound, and make certain sounds less harsh in cheap speakers. The 200 works well and is a good buy. I wish there was a way to get rid of all wall wart transformers forever. Or, a least a standardized 9v model for all equipment on your rack.

Exceptionally useful gear

Comments about Behringer MIC200 Tube ULTRAGAIN Preamp:

Works great as a splitter box DI - to the board and to the amp for bass. The presets on this are very well voiced and incredibly useful. Your choice of tube or discrete preamplification. The multi setting (tube + limiter) is fabulously full, warm and dimensional with passive bass pickups: you can get a tighter, cleaner sound with the op amp or keyboard setting if you wanted, or straight up neutral. Records very well direct and its pleasantly low noise, Acoustic guitar and vocals - dynamic or conderser mics are well served. haven't yet tried it on drums. It should have an on off switch, but I'll still give it top marks for such musicality and utility at such a low price.
