Monitor your sound direct from the PA!

The ART HeadTap Headphone Tap is a passive device with an input to connect the PA or monitor amplifier and an output to connect your headphones.

Sometimes floor monitors are a problem. There isn't enough room for them onstage or someone sits in and can't hear the monitors, or the drummer can't hear them well enough. Or perhaps it's a pickup gig or a rehearsal and you didn't have enough time to set them up. In any case, sometimes it's preferable to just to put on headphones and somehow connect them to the PA. That's where a headphone tap comes in. A volume control regulates the headphone output and internal resistors keep the unit's impedance high enough to protect the phones. It also protects the amplifier from encountering too low a load impedance while powering tap units, the speaker system, or several tap units by themselves. The HeadTAP will also work with a stereo headphone amplifier for use in recording situations when you want to add headphones for additional performers.

ART HeadTap Headphone Tap

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about ART HeadTap Headphone Tap:

I play drums in a classic rock band and have had problems hearing my stage monitor due to excessive loud playing from our bass and guitar player. Adding to the problem is the fact that I sing some of the songs and add back-up vocals. When the sound man attempts to turn up my vocal mic we've encountered feedback. I first looked into wireless ear monitors to remedy the problems but they are expensive and I was told they don't provide enough volume for some drummers. I then came across the Art Headphone Tap and decided for the price I'd give it a try. I purchased it along with a pair of Shure SCL3 earphones and the system works like a charm. I simply un-plugged my monitor and plugged the speaker cable directly into the head tap (which I've attached to my mic stand with velcro) and now have a volume control at my fingertips. It provides more than enough volume and I can hear everything in the monitors at a low volume. The nice thing about the head tap is that you can daisy chain it in with the floor monitors and you don't need a seperate low line feed from the mixer. It's also improved my singing dramatically as I can now easily hear myself and stay on key. I would highly recomend it to anyone who has the same problem.
