Thomastik Belcanto Double Bass Strings are designed for the bassist primarily playing arco. The unique steel rope core offers a dark, warm tone with excellent resonance and a wide range of color to its tone. The strings are thinner than many other bass strings, but still offer a surprisingly robust sound. Belcanto Double Bass strings feature a quick bow response and a natural pizzicato sound for Jazz.

Belcanto Solo Set

Belcanto bass strings have quickly become the standard for arco bassists. Made with a specially twisted steel rope core, Belcanto Solos have a dark/warm tone with excellent resonance. They have a wide range of tone colors, are easy to blend and provide outstanding projection with moderate effort. They also settle-in quickly, intonate reliably and stay in tune.

Belcantos create a buzz among upright players

from Masachusetts

Comments about Thomastik Belcanto 3/4 Size Double Bass Strings:

I'm not so sure who created the buzz about how great these strings were...might have been the manufacturer. All upright players are looking for the perfect string, and these are the most recent candidate for the 'best around'...OK, these are defintiely a high quality string but they come at a high price: $229 a set. I found them to be only slightly better than most popular strings selling at half the price. I suppose if I had a $30,000 German bass 200 years old and played for the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, I might want these...but for me, they weren't twice as good as my Helicores, which were half the price. I've read and heard that these make a crappy bass sound good...a good bass sound great...and a great bass sound as good as it possible can...hmmm...I dunno...I don't see it..or rather, hear or feel it. But that's just me...
