Beautiful Tone and A Pleasure to Play

from Lancaster PA

Comments about Taylor 410-CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I struggled playing a Martin D-18 for a year, never really comfortable with the neck. I sold it once I found the 410CE. The neck was the most comfortable neck I'd played. The cutaway makes some of the lead lines easier to get. And the tone of the Ovankol wood is a bit deeper than the mahogany, although still full and bright. It is a powerful sound, especially with Elixer light nanowebs. Through our PA at church, it is very natural. Many have commented on how good it sounds. I use drop D tuning a lot and some alternate tunings, and the guitar responds well. It isn't intended for fingerpicking, but when I don't have my OM out, this does just fine. The 1 3/4 inch neck makes fingerpicking more comfortable. I normally play it through a Genz Benz Shen 60 (has balanced XLR outputs), but will use an LR Baggs Para DI to go through the PA system if I don't use the amp. I would definately buy another.

Ovankol: A Nice Surprise!!

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about Taylor 410-CE Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar (2011 Model):

I was surprised to hear the melowness of sound this model has. Unplugged, it has a very soft, almost unpretentious sound regardless of how you play it. Plugged in, it's as clear as a bell. For me there's no question; the sound makes it fun to play. The sustain is about average, but the tone is excellent. It also stays in tune even after hard playing. A beautiful pro-level guitar for the money.
