Great Mandolin

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Michael Kelly Solid A-style Mandolin:

This is a great mandolin, not just for the price, but by any measure I like to think of mandolins as violins for guitar players or guitars for violin players. I think either player could pick this up and have fun immediately. For me, the big selling point was the solid wood construction. Solid wood ages whereas laminate does not and the tone on this mandolin will get even better with time. The tone is already amazing on this mandolin and the price was unbelievable. As a plus, it is also very beautiful. It's hard to imagine how American music makers can compete when items like this are made overseas. It was not perfect, however; there was a little bit of fret buzz at the higher frets that I had to get taken care of. But keep in mind the price that I paid for the entire mandolin is comparable in price to a re-fret. One of the best purchases I have ever made and unbelievably affordable. It's a great instrument and definitely a lifetime purchase.
