Great for Irish or jazz.

The rolled steel rim of the Boston creates a bright, powerful tone that is unique to Deering banjos. The clarity and crispness of this tenor banjo is ideal for jazz or folk or Irish music. The satin finish mahogany neck and resonator enhance the bright nickel-plated metal parts. The fingerboard inlays are delicately beautiful and the guitar style tuners are precise and smooth. The fully adjustable truss rod allows the player to fine-tune the string "action" for any unique and highly personalized playing style. The fret scale is 21 inches. The short 17-fret neck is preferred by many Irish players and some jazz players. The close frets make fast notes and complex chords easier to reach.
