Multiple tonal options from this hybrid China.

The K Custom Hybrid series is another innovative and musical line developed in conjunction with Akira Jimbo, a leading drum stylist.

The Hybrids combine an unlathed, brilliant finish on the inner half with the traditionally finished K Zildjian lathing on the outer half of the cymbal. This results in the possibility of 2 different sound dynamics depending where the cymbal is played. Additionally, the unlathed section helps to control the wash and sustain, rendering them ideal for recording and live situations.

The K Custom Hybrid China has a thinner design that lends it a broad, breathy quality but still abundantly projects due to the unlathed bell. It provides a unique musical statement that will challenge and inspire your artistic expressions.

Akira said, "Maximum versatility is the main idea with the Hybrid series. I worked with Zildjian to design a line of cymbals where brilliance and darkness co-exist. I think the sound we came up with sets the new standard for the 21st Century."

Another amazing Hybrid

Comments about Zildjian K Custom Hybrid China:

I'm a huge fan of the Hybrid series, but I hope that doesn't sway my review too much. The china has a lot of the same qualities shared among the rest of the Hybrids: smooth, warm, yet cutting. The cymbal sounds interesting to say the least. It has a surprisingly long sustain for a china, but unfortunately isn't loud enough for this to be heard over a medium volume, making it sound several inches smaller when trying to play over heavy guitars and yet you get the full 19" when playing over quieter music. It's a weird disparity but makes the cymbal very useful when you have another traditional china on your set. The sustain at low volumes also makes it an excellent swish for those seeking an alternative to Zildjian's only other model, the A-Zildjian 22".
