Nice price, great add-on, good value

Comments about Roland CY-8 V-Cymbal Dual-Trigger Crash:

I bought this to add on with my TD9SX - works like a dream. Every kit on the module adds the cymbal, so I didn't have to program it into each and every kit. Dual trigger allows me to add two sounds, very niice. The construction is as to be expected - it's rubber-based, though it gives a good swinging motion and is weighted to give you a little bit more realistic feel. The rubber is nice because it's quiet and allows a little "give" so it's not hard on the wrists and doesn't break your drumstick beads. I'm going to buy another - 3 crashes, high hats and a ride... 11 different drum sounds :)

Construction could be better.

Comments about Roland CY-8 V-Cymbal Dual-Trigger Crash:

I picked this up locally to replace the hi-hat pad on my Yamaha DTXpress IV. It worked fine for about ten minutes, then stopped registering hits. Upon checking out the pad, I noticed that the piezo sensor housing had a soft center to it. Pressed it in a little, and the pad started registering hits again. Naturally, after a couple of minutes, it started happening again. I took it back for a replacement, which also experienced the same problem. It might have just been a bad batch the store got, but I won't be attempting to use another. On the upside, it worked great when it worked. I doubt Roland would stay in business for long if this were a common thing.

Great technology, but has its reasoning

Comments about Roland CY-8 V-Cymbal Dual-Trigger Crash:

This cymbal, like expected, is great. With configurable bow and rim shots, it can have two different sounds programmed into one cymbal. Choking works well, but on my TD3, the choke seems to stop the sound, no fade out. The TD5 fades out though, making a more realistic sound. Finally, it has a small price to pay. The cymbal is rather tiny, and awkward at first because I'm used to full sized pieces. As well, its rubber. This does not give me a very realistic feeling of hitting a cymbal, but it does the job.
