Wide tonal range with acoustic cymbal response.

The Roland CY-15R V-Cymbal Ride is a fifteen-inch electronic ride cymbal with the same movement as an acoustic ride. A selectable dual-trigger system (edge/bow or bow/bell) allows for use as a ride cymbal or a large crash cymbal. Better still, simultaneous 3-way sensing (edge/bow/bell) is possible using the V-Drums TD-10 sound module equipped with the latest version of TDW-1 Wave and System Expansion Board. With this board, the Roland CY-15R even provides positional sensing on the bow section of the cymbal, allowing for incremental tonal changes in the manner of an acoustic ride.

Fifteen-inch ride cymbal with realistic playing feel
Selectable dual-trigger system for use as a ride or large crash
Simultaneous triple sensing (using TD-10 Sound Module with TDW-1 with V-Cymbal Control)
Compatible with all Roland TD-Series/SPD-Series sound modules

The ride you can ride for the rest of the trip. With unlimited possibilities for collectible cymbal sounds. Put it in your cart today!

Necessary Upgrade

from Undisclosed

Comments about Roland CY-15R V-Cymbal Ride:

I purchased this cymbal to replace a CY-8 on my Roland TD-4S compact drum kit. The reason I upgraded is because I want my electric set to mimic an acoustic set as closely as possible. If you want your Roland drum set to feel as close as it can to a real kit, the Roland CY-15R is the one item you need to purchase.

As listed in the product description, this cymbal allows for three-zone sensitivity. You can still get 3 different sounds on a CY-8, but that cymbal is force sensitive, meaning the edge sounds like an edge, but the bow can sound like a bow or bell depending how hard you hit the thing. The CY-15R, conversely, is zone sensitive. This means the area on the cymbal you strike will sound exactly as it would on an acoustic cymbal (edge=edge, bow=bow, bell=bell). This is hugely important in making you feel like you're playing an actual cymbal.

Additionally, the diameter of the CY-8 is 12 inches and is weighted only in the front. The CY-15R is 15 inches, and is weighted 360 degrees around the cymbal. This adds both weight and balance to the cymbal which allows it to react and move more like a real ride cymbal.

If there is one down side, it's that I've found that the bell portion of the cymbal isn't as responsive as the edge and bow. This can be slightly adjusted using whatever module you have, but no matter how I have adjusted mine, I haven't been able to erase that small difference. Still, this is a small price to pay for an electronic cymbal that is as close as you can get to the real thing.

Overall, I would say that if you own a Roland electric drumset, this is a strong upgrade item that should be considered if you want your kit to more accurately mirror the feel of an acoustic set.

Like them a lot

Comments about Roland CY-15R V-Cymbal Ride:

I have been playing a V-Stage kit now for about 3 - 4 months, and the cymbals really do feel good. They are rubber, and heavy... but since they are not as slick feeling as real cymbals so you never glance-and-miss. They rock kinda nice and push back when you are laying down a ride pattern.

Comments about Roland CY-15R V-Cymbal Ride:

Super responsive and sensitive trigger cymbal. Natural swaying feels great. 3 separate triggers for bow, edge and bell. Blows away the competition. Well worth the extra bucks. A great upgrade from conventional trigger pads for digital cymbal sound purpose. Seems to be rugged and sturdy for years of use. Top shelf item here as Roland is known for, you will not be disappointed.
