Tone reminiscent of that classic Cuban sound.
Pearl's Folkloric bongo drums feature a traditional look with modern innovation. Thicker South American style natural skins make the drums warm sounding, but a fiberglass gel coat on the interior seals the shell and adds the projection and volume desired by today's players. The 7" and 8-1/2" Oak bongos feature traditional hoops that complete these stunning hand drums in a matte Crimson Sunrise finish.
- Thin Oak shells with fiberglass resin inside coating

Comments about Pearl Folkloric Bongos:
I've been eying these bongo for awhile and finally decided to purchase a pair. When I tune them up right out the box, these bongo sound great! The macho (small drum head) pop and most importantly the hembra (large drum head) have a solid tone without any ring. Pearl Folkloric Bongo are well constructed with precision fitting hardware. The bongo hardware is well made with an attractive lacquered brushed metal finish. I should add the nuts are 5/8 inch in length for preventing thread damage. There are two washers on the tension rods or hooks, the inner washer is a spacer keeping the tension rod in place then there's the outer washer. A lot of Pearl Percussion bongo in my opinion, have too much space between the small and large drums. The Pearl Folkloric Bongo spacing between the two drum heads are close together making for more comfortable playing area and easier to hold between a player's legs. I have no problem with the weigh of these drums even though there's a little heft to the drums. The one thing I did notice and have a little problem with is the crimson color finish is not as bright as the product promo image. I have a collection of bongos and the Pearl Percussion Folkloric Bongo stand out for their good solid construction and good solid sound. Yes, I would definitely recommend the Pearl Percussion Folkloric Bongo.
