Both Meinl Tam's

from USA

Comments about Meinl Setup Tambourine with Brass Jingles:

I own both versions of this tamborine. The mounted and the handheld. The mounted Tam has a very big sound. It's perfect for striking when mounted. I also tend to remove the bolts on the mount and use it as a hand held tam. It has a great sound and is easily controlled. However, it is really heavy. The handheld tam with the aluminum jingles is super comfortable, extremely light and easy to control. Although it doesn't sound like your run-of-the-mill tamborine, its sound is thin and fragile. I use this mainly for playing with my left hand while playing congas at the same time. Its great for this because of its lightness. If I am playing just the tam though I will opt for another instrument with brass jingles.

My favorite of all non headed tambourines.

from Oz

Comments about Meinl Setup Tambourine with Brass Jingles:

The Meinl tambourine is in my opinion the most comfortable non-headed tambourine on the market. I own many tambourines, and have reviewed a few for this site. I can say without hesitation that this particular tambourine equals any other in sound quality, but its real advantage is its incredible balance and light weight. Meinl have put a lot of thought into the design of this lovely instrument. Even the grip feels wonderful in my hand. The brass jingles on my model are warm and crisp and they cut. The body is strong and has stood the test of having 2B drumsticks belted into it during high volume gigs. I use this tambourine in conjunction with other models I own. I often play it against others and having owned mine for over 1 year, there is no structural damage to be seen.I recommend this great instrument without any hesitation at all. It is my pick over all other tambourines of its kind. I plan to buy a mounted model very soon. It is simply the most well balanced instrument of its kind I have come across in 25 years.I rate it at 6 stars. 5 is not enough.
