Incredibly versatile snare

from Osage City, KS

Comments about Gretsch Drums New Classic Wood Snare Drum:

Most people would look at this snare only if they were looking to match the New Classic kit. They would really be missing a great drum choice! This is an incredibly versatile drum. You can crank it up and get a piercing rim shot (those die-cast rims are there for a reason). Or, you can set it low and get that great fat-back sound. Rim clicks are solid with a magnificent clave' sound. The mechanics are reliable: the action on the throw off is simple and smooth, plus you can adjust the snare tension from both sides--not all that common even on drums in this price range. Sensitive enough for jazz, powerful enough for rock--it reminds you why Gretsch is still revered.
