Comments about Getzen 800 Eterna Series Bb Cornet:
I've been playing cornet and trumpet for over half a century. In that time I have played some of the best known brands, but, until now, never a Getzen. I received mine last week and I've laready used the cornet in jazz and Dixieland bands. Fantastic defines this instrument. The nickel-steel valves were smooth to start with, and the tone from the copper bell is perfect for the work I do. The cornet plays very well and it's balance is reassuring. The cornet has received several compliments from fellow musicians. I've compared my Getzen against a couple my very old Conn cornets (the real ones made circa 1950-1965), and both the workmanship and the quality of the materials match up with those. I would like to see a little more engraving on the bell, however. But, engraving doesn't produce the sound. I've never seen an instrument case like the one that Getzen provides. Outstanding. If you are a serious artist, and you want an excellent cornet, this is the one. You could pay more, but I don't think you can get more value.
