Comments about Blessing BCR-1230 Series Bb Cornet:

I've been playing borth cornet and trumpet for over 50 years and it's always fun to try out a brand that I've never used before. The BCR-1230 is considered a student cornet and it probably fits that category.

But, I received mine a couple of days ago, and the first thing I noticed was how perfect the lacquer job was. Not one fault that I could find. The monel valves work perfectly and they are responsive. As time passes, I expect the valves to seat better and deliver professional level performance. I use a Bach 1C or 1D mouthpiece in our 60 piece concert band and the cornet performs just as well as the high-priced spread I have a Bach Stradivarious trumpet). I've come to believe that most of the performance of an instrument is the result of the player and the BCR-1230 holds its own and then some in pieces that range from concert marches to concert Latin Dances, concert jazz, and so on.

I could have paid a whole lot more for an instrument, but I don't think I could get better sound through all ranges no matter which brand or its price.

Blessing hit a home run with this cornet. My only suggestion is that the cornet case should be big enough to hold all four mutes that I use, plus the cleaning equipment.
