Let me start off by saying this, I'v allways wanted a six string but i was worried about the big fret boards, but as soon as I got this bass I was so shocked by how small the fret board feels, the bass is very playable, and the electronics? Wow amazing. This bass reminds me so much of my friend's six string Ken Smith, yes you heard right Ken Smith.great bass.Try It out!!!
This is a great bass. I've owned it for a while now. I don't write reviews on new instruments as I am still really into it. After having owned it for a while now, I can write an honest, good review. The pickups sound really good, the EQ (3 band) is awesome, and the hardware is excellent. The only complaint I have is the fretboard radius. It has a 40" radius, which feels like it curves in towards the neck some. It takes a little while to get used to, but once you do, it's fine. The neck looks big and it is, but it doesn't feel as big as it looks. Don't wear the bass real low though otherwise it will feel really heavy (because the balance was made for it to be hanging at the same height as it would be when you're sitting) and it's hard to play all across the fretboard. If you hang it right though, you can play everywhere for a long time and it's light weight. The neck is very comfortable. This really got me into more strings. I am probably getting a Conklin 7 string and either a 9 or 11 string after that. This is an awesome bass. It can't be beat for the price. Mine is natural in color and gets a lot of looks. The red is gorgeous too. Aesthetically pleasing, great sound, nice feel; what more can you ask for? It has 2 truss-rods and 7 bolts to keep the neck secure. If it matters any, I tune mine EADGBe (like a guitar, just lower). It's normally tuned BEADGC (5 string with the C above). You have to hunt for strings if you tune it the way I do, but you can do it. Tunning it standard 6-string is easier to find the strings for.
I played one for the first time today ( 5 string ). The Bass is as good as my Tobias Basic with even the same Tobias shape neck and tone. Save thousands of dollars and buy this Bass unless you would rather have a Tobias. I love Tobias but know not everyone can afford to have one. Buy with confidence.
Great bass, the best thing I've ever played much less ever owned. The sound is awesome the bass, mids, and treble controls are a very nice feature. You can also choose which pickup you want to control. This bass really lets you customize your sound.
I had the pleasure of playing this bass today and it is easily the best bass I have ever played. I have been playing for about 10 years and have held plenty in my hand. Warwicks, Stingrays, Fenders, Pedulla, Ibanez, Zon, Alembic and many more. While they are all great basses (I have owned/own most of the above) this one was a notch above anything I have ever played. The bass belonged to a very good bass player who is a first call recording and touring bassist and he set up the action himself. Maybe that's why it played like a dream. I was able to get every tone I wanted and haven't had that much playing bass in years. I am now buying the 5 string version. The neck is very playable and fast. Resonance is great. The electronics are killer. I only wish that it had an active/passive switch. Killer bass.
