Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Rosewood Fingerboard Five-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I play bass on the worship team at a church in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. I use two basses when necessary to cover the range of vocalists who take turns leading songs. I decided to buy a 5 string with some reservation because of the floppy B string and mainly having to adjust when I reach for the low E. I have been a 4 string player forever and my bass heroes use 4 strings. And if they are my heroes, do I really need 5. But to cove the patterns and have it sound right, I can either use an octave in which I dislike effects for the most part or get a 5 string.
I ordered the Dimension due to reviews on other sites' reviews on this instrument and also because of the incredibly low price of two hundred and twenty three for a "blemished" open box. When I received it earlier than the shipping estimation, I inspected the bass and said "what blemishes?" It looked like any bass that I would pay full price for, The stock strings were stainless steel and slightly rougher than nickels which I prefer but sound fine. The intonation was off so I had to set it up. The B string is tight through my headphones and a little sloppy and hollow through my bass amp. I am playing it through an Ampeg BA-112. The fit and finish was excellent and no sharp frets as in some reviews. The action and neck was low with no dead spots. The tone controls with high, mid range and lows allows me to dial in any sound I want. I can imagine those tones sitting very well in the music.and still preserving that P bassish sound. It is active with a single humbucker and sounds really quiet as well but with a high output. I am very happy with my purchase so far. Thanks for letting me share.
