Combines patented HUSH technology with a noise-gating process.

Now you can achieve noise exterminating bliss with Rocktron's Guitar Silencer stompbox that combines patented HUSH noise-reduction technology with a noise-gating process. This combination of two noise eliminators creates one effective noise-killing device.

No matter what style of playing you do, from pop to metalhead madness, the Guitar Silencer is your Swiss Army knife for wiping out hiss and silencing awkward changes in your music. The Guitar Silencer allows you to go from heavy, all-out distortion to complete silence by muting your guitar strings. All without changing your tone one bit.

There are times when your music calls for single-ended noise reduction; that softer version of noise elimination that allows your sustain to ring out unaffected, while getting rid of creeping hiss and circuit noise. That is what Rocktron's patented HUSH does so well. Then there are times when you want hard noise-gating to chop the ends of your notes while achieving instant noise kill, first achieved in metal by Dimebag Darrell with the original, rackmount Guitar Silencer. This stompbox version provides both of these noise-reducing methods in one simple pedal that takes up minimal space on your pedal board.

Part of the Rocktron Boutique Series of stomp boxes, the Guitar Silencer comes in a rugged metal chassis with eye-popping, retro, custom-designed laser-etched artwork. True bypass, and as a bonus, you can use it to add true bypass to your favorite distortion pedal using the Send/Return jacks.

Controls for the Guitar Silencer include GATE, which is the threshold at which the noise gate portion of the effect will clamp to silence. The HUSH control determines the threshold of the noise floor you want the HUSH portion of the effect to reduce. An active LED lights up when the gate threshold has been met.

The Guitar Silencer runs on a 9V alkaline battery, or with the optional Rocktron DC OnTap universal power adapter (Product #158004).

Excellent noise supression

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is great for both acoustic and electric. The hush is excellent at reducing (or even eliminating) electrical noise in your signal path. Although, contrary to advertised, it does in fact colour your tone somewhat by taking away some highs. But that's easily fixed by adjusting how much Hush you want to use. I found a good balance that reduced most signal noise while keeping my tone bright.
The gate is good. Probably a little too good - it is very aggressive in it's timing. But again, the threshold at which it activates can be set by the knob. It's very handy, as is the LED indicator of when the gate is active. However, I would have liked an extra pot that adjusts the attack, but you can't have everything :)
For the price, this this thing is awesome, and should handle everything you want to throw at it and still be able to clean up your signal.

Best gate/silencer noise reducer I have tried

Comments about Rocktron Guitar Silencer Noise Reduction Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have had an mxr smart gate and an isp decimator and the rocktron silencer worked better by far for me. I dont notice any difference with the pedal on or off as far as taking away from my tone, but it totally silences the feedback when I am not playing, and I use a ton of gain. I am using a Bugera 333xl with the gain set about 3/4 of the way up and then using a tube screamer to overdrive that and without the silencer I get a ton of feedback but with it on no feedback at all this pedal works like a dream, and the hush portion of it really does reduce noise even while playing. Compared to the other two I really do feel the silencer is far better. With both the isp and the mxr I had to turn the threshold up too high and then they would suck some of my tone but with the rocktron I dont have any tone suck and all the feedback is gone. The only thing you do have to do is turn the threshold down slightly if you go to a smaller amount of gain, but I can easily do this with my foot, and rarely do I use anything besides the lead channel. Anyway if you want a foot pedal to reduce noise this is the one.
