Comments about Orange Amplifiers OBC Series OBC115 400W 1x15 Bass Speaker Cabinet:
After flirting with tens and twelves, I realized I was missing the room-filling tone only a fifteen can produce, so I traded a 2x12 cab for the OBC115 with zero regrets. First off, this cab is built like a brick house. Just like Orange claims, not a rattle or vibration anywhere. The clothe grille is easily removable thanks to a well-thought-out cloth tab you simply tug to detach the grille from the velcro attached to the cab. Dual 1/4" and Speakon jacks make hooking up your amp a breeze. 400 watts of power handling @ 8 ohms will accomodate most amps. Where this cab really shines is in the tone - loud, slightly gritty, FAT bass! It handles as much low-mid boost you throw at it. Even though this cab doesn't have a tweeter, high-mids and highs are still clear and punchy, although they don't have the crystalline shimmer a horn provides. The lack of a tweeter is a big benefit if you like to flavor your tone with high overdrive and/or distortion, as the Eminence driver will handle it with ease, and there is no horn to blow up. If you like ultra-modern, hi-fi tones, this probably won't be the cab for you. If you dig the more traditional pallette of old-school, phat low-end rock tone, this cab is a winner!
