Excellent Volume Pedal!

from Undisclosed

Comments about Ernie Ball VP JR. Passive Volume Pedal:

-Extremely durable pedal, the treadle is smooth and moves exactly the same as the day I purchased it, which was 4-5 years ago now
-Very cheap and easy to fix. If the potentiometer dies, it's three wires to re-solder onto a new pot (purchased from Ernie Ball). If the string breaks, you just string up a new one (also purchassed from Ernie Ball).
-Smooth travel, stays where you set it
-Completely passive, no batteries to die or corrode internally, no annoying power requirements

-The tuner out is wired in parallel to the output jack, which will degrade your tone if you use it

This volume pedal has served me extremely well over the years. It's the perfect companion to passive instruments so you don't have to ride the volume knob with your pinky. I'm not sure what the issue was with the previous reviewer's pedal was, but I've never had any major problems with any of the Ernie Ball volume pedals I own (I currently own two 6181 25k's and one 6180 250k).

I can't stress enough how important it is to get the right pedal for your setup though.

Get the 6181 (25k) pedal if:
-Your instrument is active and you put your volume pedal first
-You put your volume pedal at the end of your chain and have buffered bypass pedals (Such as BOSS) or pedals that are always-on (like a compressor)

Get the 6180 (250k) pedal if:
-Your instrument is passive and you put your volume pedal first

20 minutes...

from Tulsa OK

Comments about Ernie Ball VP JR. Passive Volume Pedal:

The first 20 minutes out of the box were great. Nice smooth taper, dead quiet opperation and seemed durable. But that's where the fun ended. Next day comes and the pedal does not allow any signal to pass through, no matter where the treedle is. I ran through all of the troubleshooting suggestions I can find and found nothing wrong, it just did not function. I want to say it was exactly what I was looking for. And in a way it was. But I was also looking for something that I can depend on. So far it hasn't been. I shipped it to Ernie Ball for repairs a week ago and now I'm just hoping that it returns fully functioning. A 6 month warranty certainly doesn't seem long enough.
