With a full oval tip for perfect balance control and high pitch definition.

Drummers from the pipe band genre are a special breed who require sticks that are perfectly suited to their unique technical requirements. Their activity involves playing on extremely high tensioned drums, and a very specialized stick is necessary to produce the right sound and feel.

Designed for the most discriminating player, the Highlander Pipe Band Snare sticks are made in select rock maple for a light, fast-playing stick with great flex and rebound. With a full oval tip, these sticks provide perfect balance and create the high pitch definition that pipe band players desire.

As with all Vic Firth sticks, the Highlander Snare sticks are produced with uncompromising quality control standards, highlighted by a proprietary tone pairing and weight sorting system.

Comments about Vic Firth Highlander Pipe Band Snare Drum Sticks:

My wife plays snare in a pipe and drum band. She has a pair of these ordered elsewhere, that were not well matched. So, I ordered five (5!) pairs in hopes that a few would be well matched. Though they are all labeled as matched and balanced, they are not. I don't know if this is a factory problem, or someone mixing them up at the warehouse. Of the 10 sticks, we were able to find two that made a pretty good match, and another two that were "close enough." From lowest to highest, of the 10 sticks, the pitch range is almost a perfect fifth!

I am never ordering sticks online again, and would discourage anyone from doing so, unless you can deal with poorly matched sticks. Buy your sticks somewhere you can try them and hear if they match, or not.
