Heil Sound

The PL-2T features unique design elements and the reliability professionals need.

The Heil Sound PL-2T overhead boom uses a system of perfectly balanced internal springs rather than the unsightly, mechanically unstable outboard springs used on booms of much lesser quality. Handles microphones up to 3-1/2 pounds in weight.

Remove the top and back plates to thread the mic cable inside the boom with ease. No more cable connectors to remove and replace! Ships with a standard C-clamp mount.

The PL-2 accepts industry standard 5/8" threaded mic clips or shockmounts. The chrome threaded stem can be locked into place depending upon the exact type of microphone or shockmount.

Need to mount the PL-2T permanently to a desk or table? See the FL-2 Permanent Flange Mount (sold separately).

FEATURES
  • Internal springs
  • Top and back plates are removable for convenient cable threading
  • Standard C clamp mount
  • Accepts standard 5/8" threaded mic clips/shockmounts

For pro installations, you need the reliability of a Heil boom. Call or click to order now.

This set is amazing!I bought this set because i needed one to replace my old pearl,(which is now in my church) but I was on a tight budget. So I was trying to choose between a tama imperial star and this, and I'm glad I choose this one. The only bad thing about this set is the hardware, the crash stand almost falls over every time I hit it, and the cymbals are TERRIBLE so I deffinately recomend purchasing new ones. My suggestions for good cheap cymbals are B8 Pro Hats, ZHT fast crash, and B8 pro ride. Also I would look for these cymbals on ebay. The drum heads on this set are pretty good too! Eventhough they won't last you long they sound really good. Head suggestions Evans onyx drum heads for tom batters or evans hydraullic glass, evans HD dry snare batter, and For the tom resonants(bottom heads)I would just keep the stock ones, but if you want a really contolled(maybe for a smaller room) sound then either evans clear EC2 SST or evans hydraullic glass heads. Overall this set sounds really good and the bass drum is AMAZING! If you want to make the bass drum sound even better then add a remo powerstroke 3 bass drum batter and Aquarian Regulator reso. Of course you don't need to add these things to your set, but it makes it sound just as good as any tama or pearl or dw...just kidding it will never sound like a dw, but for about a third of the price I would say it's a friggin awesome deal.

D2 Drum Set

This set has great sound once the heads are changed. Really warm sounds. I have stock heads on the bass but the toms and snare all have Aquarian heads. The bad stuff about this set is that you should consider a shell pack. It will need better hardware and cymbals. Below is a list of what you should get for this set.Top Priority=11.new cymbals2.new seat3.new pedal4.new stands, including snare stand.

NOTHING BETTER FOR THE MONEY!

By chris-WNqiA

from Undisclosed

The shell kit is amazing. Quality that is far above a begginer set. You have to expect to recieve low quality hardware when you are getting 9ply mahagony shell pack for $350! The snare head sounds nice and the stock tom heads sound good with some remo control rings ($9). Junk the cymbals and the bass drum head and you can have an amazing complete set for around $700.

Good first kit

By IndieMusicFan1993

I currently play this, and it is a good first kit. The cymbals are truly awful, and you need to by new ones as soon as possible. The hardware is decent and bass pedal isn't too great. I have had problems with the floor tom, it keeps breaking. Overall, if you buy new cymbals and heads, the sound quality is alright. Recommend to a beginner.

great shells poor hardwware

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

i guess they had to make it a "bargain" somehow. worst cymbals ever and weak drum heads that will dent easily if you play hard....however the shells are actually really good quality. if you upgrade the cymbals, drum heads, and add a double pedal you have a seriously decent sounding kit. definately plays bigger than the price. two thumbs up.

sweet deal

By koons

has a great snare, a low-toned beast bass and okay toms if you tune them right. Replace the cymbals, stands, and get some dampening rings and you'll have a dank set.

Great Kit, Crap Cymbals

By Some guy you probably don't know

from Florida

-Kick drum is amazing. Loud, punchy, and easy to tune. Needs pillow.-Toms need major muffling. Extremely ringy. Sound great after tunage and muting. not very punchy (could be the heads).-Snare blew me away. Nice warm feeling. I prefer to over-mute it but still sounds great when properly tuned.-Disgusting cymbals. Crash/ride will not produce a plausible ride sound; sounds like a trash can. High hat is short when open, and is verly low-pitched. Definitely invest in a diferent set of cymbals.-Decent hardware. Hi-hat pedal is somewhat "mushy". Strait stand for crash/ride moves a bit backwards when playing 1/8 notes on it. Never falls or moves erraticly. Decent kick pedal. Just make sure you're on carpet so it doesn't absorb some of your foot's force and slow the reaction.-Good throne.-Awesome stick bag. No complaints on the sticks either.Ummm...-Oh, heads aren't very durable. Had mine for 3 days and already have dents. (I do play hard).

I got this drumset like 2 months ago and it is pretty good. The stand for the crash cymbal is real good, but the cymbals suck (badly.theyre made out of aluminum, also gottta replace the heads because it comes wit relly cheap ones the break fast. i would recommend this drumset anyways :)

Tom

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This is a very good first kit, as long as your willing to spend some extra money on cymbals. ive had this kid for a year and a half, and currently play it without the smallest tom. (4 pc.) i have new batter heads on the drums and they sound pretty good. I havent used the snare much because my dad had a 1970s ludwig snare that i use. If your a beginner looking for your first kit, this is your best option. Very durable. You wont be disappointed.

This set is a nice first set. The drums sound good but the cymbals are crap. But if your looking for a nice first set this is the one.

By Anonymous

I've had this for over a year and it's amazing! the cymbals, as the title states are crappy. i had to replace them a month after i got the kit! the drum heads are pretty good for stock heads. I still have two of them in use. if you need a full kit and are tight for $$$, buy this. you wont be dissapointed

First Kit

By esp_for_life

from Dont worry about it

See all my reviews

My parents bought this for me 6 months ago, as my first real drum kit (had first act). right out of the box they sounded good, especially the kick. I would suggest Moongel for the floor tom, it has bad overtones. The rack toms sound like that of an electronic kit, but this is not neccesarily a bad thing. The snare has a good crack when tuned tight, but tuned loose it sounds bad. The heads except the bass drum heads should all be changed, and the cymbals as well. I'm a hard hitter but it was ridiculous how quickly the cymbals and sticks broke. The hats are decent though, call me crazy but I like them better then my teacher's A Customs (I'm a Sabian and Meinl guy. Overall a good first kit.

I have had this for over three years...

By Tyler Noble

from Charlestown, IN

See all my reviews

Even though this drum kit is very cheaply made, it holds up pretty good. I have had this for 3 years and once you get new heads and know how to tune drums, this set can actually sound pretty descent. Complaints: a lot of the tension rods for the toms and bass drums stripped, the bearing edges are really awful, the 10" tom would tune, and then one hard hit would de tune it, the snare strainer broke, the floor tom brackets that hold the legs all broke (all three) so I had to convert it into a suspended floor tom, which didn't sound too bad. Even though I have a lot of complaints for this set, I am glad it has held together for as long as I have had it.

Great Starter Set

By the average Joe

i have played on some killer sets like Tama, Ludwig, Pearl, and DW (of course these are friends sets). and the D2 by ddrum sounds and feels the same (that is if you tune it correctly). buy this set. this is by far the best starter set on the market. also, INVEST IN SOME NEW CYMBALS. i bought the Zildjian ZBT 3-piece set (recommend these cymbals by the way). so get these drums and get some new cymbals.

Well, I am a multi-instrumentalist and I am wanting to make a solo album. I got this set because it had good reviews. So I bought it, got Evan's EC2 heads, and Zildjian ZBTs, Zildjian A-Series, and Meinl MCS cymbals to make it inhance in sound and YOU NEED BETTER HARDWARE. The shells sound great if you tune the heads correctly and get Evans, Remo, or Aquarian heads. Overall, a great value and good enough to record with a condensed mic.

I've had this set for 6 months. It is the best starter set you can get for the price. Decent sound if tuned right. Unfortunately the cymbal stands suck and broke fast. That was about the only bad thing. Pros- Great price and soundCons- Cheaply made
