A snare head you don't have to tape up to sound good!

Full and articulate sound, with no unwanted ring. Texture-coated head has a unique vented muffling ring tucked into the hoop on the underneath side of the head. Sensitive snare response. Satin finish texture coating is very versatile, sounds great with sticks or brushes.

Comments about Aquarian Focus-X Snare Drumhead:

I have never had a 6 1/2 in. deep snare before and was having difficulty finding a head that sounded good to me. I had tried several but the excess overtones and ringing were just driving me nuts. I tried retuning up, and down without much success.
Finally, this head seems to be responding SO much better and getting closer to the sound I want and need for my recordings. I probably just need to work on the tuning a bit more and it will work out great.
Oh and I have Gretsch mahogany drums if that makes a difference to someone.
I had always played on a regular sized metal snare in previous years, so this was a big change for me.

    this works!

Comments about Aquarian Focus-X Snare Drumhead:

i have a 14x5 1/2" 8 ply maple snare. nice drum, well made but i was getting a little too much overtone and a wicked ringing when i did a blast of rimshots. i had an aquarian "classic" head on the batter side. so, i decided to try the "focus x" head. seated and tuned the head, problem gone and the snare sounds great. if you have similar problems, try this head. works for me.

Comments about Aquarian Focus-X Snare Drumhead:

I bought two of these heads to replace Remo Fiberskin 3's on two snares - a 6.5X14 Pearl Master Works Custom (in African Mahogany) and a 3.5X14 Pearl Free Floating with a custom body by Exotic Drums that is also African Mahogany. The MWC was pretty nice with the FS3, but now it has real dynamic range without too much resonance at lower volumes. Ditto the FFS. The biggest plus, however, is the ability to play around the edge of the head and still get a soft crisp tone. The FF snare sounded like hell around the rim with the FS3, more ring than primary tone. Now, it sings and will also give you outstanding "cracks" on rimshots. I'm not sure that you want these for heavy metal, but for music that calls for a coated head, especially in a small space, with pp to ff parts or vice versa (like a David Garibaldi press roll from LIVE AND IN LIVING COLOR - "Your Still a Young Man" or half of breaks that old school r&b horn bands play), these are it! I've got another set (DW Classic's) where I'm going to use these on the toms (to replace G2's) when Aquarian finally offers all of the other sizes. Let's use these heads and say goodbye to the blue blobs for resonance control.
