Comments about Yamaha FG Series FGX720SCA Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
So... I was kind of skeptical about this guitar (it was offered to me by the AWESOME people that are Yamaha customer service). I hadn't played it, and this is the first review of the product that I know of. "Bleeding Edge" as some would say. Oversized soundhole and tiny frets were the first things I noticed. Also the almost mirror-like quality of the black finish. Right out of the box, very clean, very nice looking. Couldn't ask for better aesthetics. Upon playing, I found the action extremely playable for an acoustic. No buzzing. Anywhere. I checked every fret on every string. One think I did notice was the very prominent harmonics the guitar had. Now, I don't mean regular, intentional harmonics. I mean the noisy ones on the neck-side of the guitar. On this guitar, they are almost as loud as the played notes when hammering from no where or if you fret before you pick.As for the sound, it sounds excellent. At least as good as the FGX04, which the FGX720SC is replacing. Prominent mids and surprisingly sparkly highs, along with a deep and powerful bass you can feel in your chest.Overall, 4.75 for the money. And the preamp is a system 55, which is new, and is almost exactly the same as the system 46, which this site says it has. Not the system 45.
