Top Notch Saxophone
Comments about Yanagisawa Model SC-991 Curved Soprano Saxophone:
This is the best soprano sax I have ever tried hands down. The first thing I noticed when the horn arrived was the exceptional quality of the construction. The next thing I noticed was the ergonomics, The left hand palm keys are where they should be, you will not need to add any risers to the palm keys. But the best part is the way this little horn plays. The intonation is excellent in all registers and the sound is so big and fat you could sit on it and ride it around the room. The sound is huge and it is even from the lowest to the highest notes. I was able to compare the Yani with a vintage Selmer Mark Six straight soprano and it was no contest. For sound and ergonomics the Yani played circles around the Selmer. I own two King Super 20s, an alto and a tenor and the Yani reminds me very much of these two horns, very free blowing and as responsive as you could wish for. The Yani is one of the easiest saxophones to play that I have had the pleasure to own. Sound like I am in love? You bet!

one and only choice for curved
Comments about Yanagisawa Model SC-991 Curved Soprano Saxophone:
Bought 991 for my 7 year old daughter to play because it is easier to hold and support versus a straight horn. Older 9 year old daughter has just started to play and finds the 991 very comfortable to play and hold. We tried a curved Cannonball soprano and found it very bright and did not like the fact that it did not have a tilting Bb spatula. IT is easier to play high left hand palm key notes than on my Selmer S-80 series 11 soprano. IT also sounds as good as my Selmer.

Very glad I bought this horn
Comments about Yanagisawa Model SC-991 Curved Soprano Saxophone:
What I like about this horn is that the upper register response is very good. The high F comes out very easy compared to the soprano I now have. Easier on the embouchure. Also the high F# and high G altissimo notes also come out when I use the same fingerings as for my tenor sax. The intonation is great on the horn I purchased, and it also projects well with a good loud sound. I had heard that curved sopranos in general are less bright in sound than straight ones. The only complaint I have is on the one I purchased the low Eb to low Db requires a little extra squeeze by the pinky to execute fast, but that is a minor complaint as no horn is perfect. The bottom line is if you are looking for a good quality curved soprano, I recommend this horn. It sounds great! 4 1/2 stars.

Wow! Very Nice Saxophone!
Comments about Yanagisawa Model SC-991 Curved Soprano Saxophone:
I personally feel more comfortable with a curved soprano sax and this one is perfect. This saxophone plays so easily. It's amazing. I believe that if a soprano saxophone player prefers a curved bell, this is the perfect one for them.
