Yanagisawa A 901 alto sax
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
Wow.I could not believe how this horn performs after getting it in perfect adjustment. It will play with anything ever made new or vintage( with a pro set up) as I have played and fixed most new and vintage pro horns.I prefer this over the Yani silversonic as well.

Sweet Horn
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
This horn has played perfectly for the past two years. I bought this as a step up from my student line vito that I had played for six years. I have had my Yani for 2 years and it plays great. Great sound, awesome intonation, and the price; cant beat it. It plays great with a Meyer 6m and Zonda 3 Reeds.

A great sax for the money
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
After playing a Yamaha tenor sax for a couple of years I wanted to try alto. I started with a small company's own model, which was not bad, but nothing special, then moved on to a 30yr old student Yamaha model, which had much better tone but needed overhauling. Instead of investing in that I went to my local music store and tried 6 different altos, mainly Yamaha, plus Trevor James and the Yani A901. I liked the Yamaha 62 (which was the one my teacher had, and which I'd played before) and found the tone much richer than the student model, but when I tried the Yani I just knew that it was the one for me. The tone was even richer, full of color, the keys felt more naturally placed under my fingers, and it blew effortlessly all the way from top to bottom. It was the most expensive of those I'd tried, but well worth the money. My teacher was also very impressed with it, and tried it. After I'd got used to it, playing some of the pieces I'd been struggling with on my Yamaha student model, suddenly I could play faster and control the sound and tone much more easily. It will sound mellow when you want, or will really cut through when you blast it, but while still playing with accurate intonation.I'm seriously thinking of trading in my Yamaha student tenor for the Yani tenor model.Buy this horn - you'll love it!

Best Sax Ever Made
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
This model #901 Yani sax is the best Sax I ever played. I am basically a tenor and Baritone player and when I tried this Alto I could not believe the Sound. Since I purchased this 901 all my other horns sit in the corner. The difference between the 991 and 901 is that the 991 is ribbed construction while the 901 is post. I think the 901 Resonates a little more because of the post constuction. There is no fancy pearls or extra engraving but it is well made and is the best Sax that I have ever played.

Very happy with it
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
I am very happy that I bought this sax.I choose between a Yamaha YAS62, a Selmer Reference 54, and Martin Handcrafted (vintage) and a Buescher (vintage) but I decided to buy a new instrument. The price/quality is absolutely the best with this Yanagisawa 901 !!As a beginner I use a Yamaha 5c mouthpiece on it with Vandoren no 2. It sounds better for me with this mouthpiece..any suggestions?...

AWESOME
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
I absolutely love this sax. I have had it for 3 years. It has awesome intonation-the sound is just so rich and breathtaking. The alignment of the keys molds my fingers well. The keys have softness to them-they aren't all clangy and "sticky" like a number of other brands. The horn also has an excellent range. The mouthpiece it comes with is okay--but I use a Rousseau JDX7 with a Rovner Dark or reverse ligature. It also sounds great with my Yani metal. The sound is insane! The overtones are unbelievable! This sax sounds equivalent to either Aebersold or Bird. It is totally affordable as well. Anyway, this is definitely a sax to try--and will probably be the sax you purchase!

the 901 is a great horn
Comments about Yanagisawa A-901 Artist Alto Saxophone:
I play a super action 80 tenor. I love the rich sound. I played the Yanagisawa alto and to my surprise it met my needs in comfort of key layout and response. Also the tone is just what I look for in my horns. Dark, deep, throaty. I'm happy.
