Good "first mouthpiece", not much else
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
The Yamaha 4C serves this purpose perfectly: Act as a cheap starter mouthpiece to develop a good embouchure and air support. If you have purchased a sax with an unmarked stock mouthpiece, replace it with a 4C. The tone can sound rather constricted or cold so when proficient on the 4C, move on to something nicer like a Vandoren Optimum, Rousseau, or Selmer S90.

4C alto
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I have a 4C and a 5C Yamaha for my tenor and like them both. The 4C alto works just as good. Not a costly mouthpiece but good for a saxophonist with not much experience, like me. I have a Meyer for my tenor sax but still use the Yamaha for the 1920's mellow dance style music.

The photo shows a clarinet piece, not an alto!
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
This piece is perfect for students and beginners. The tip is close, and the body is plastic. Get a mouthpiece patch, so your teeth don't cut in the top of the beak and make a gouge. After 4 years with this mouthpiece move on to a professional or semi-professional mouthpiece. (like a Selmer, Vandoren, Bilger/Morgan, Hite, Ponzol, Guardala, Berg Larsen, Meyer, Otto Link) If this piece gets dropped by your 5th grader, (and it will) it's no big deal. Just buy another, the price is right.

good beginner's mouthpiece!!!
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
This is probably the best mouthpiece for a beginner or someone learning to play alto sax. It is good because it doesn't take as much air as other mouthpieces. I've played sax for 3 years now, so I'm past this mouthpiece, but I recommend it for the player at a starting level.

Great 'cheap' piece
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I played this mouthpiece after playing a stock mouthpiece from a professional horn. The bad thing is, this mouthpiece is a lot darker, easier to play, and the altissimo notes are easier..this is a great piece for a beginner going through middle school and/or high school. My director prefered it over what i was playing, and there is a good resonating quality in this mouthpiece.

Exact opposite of above review
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
Very good mouthpiece for beginners. However, I would suggest a mouthpiece patch for it. By the time I entered high school, I noticed a lot of wear from my teeth. I've had it for five years and now I need a new one. Maybe if I had gotten a mouthpiece patch for it a long time ago, it would have lasted a lot longer. So, if you want it to last long, take good care of it. Either way, you'll be looking for a new one during high school.

starter mouthpiece
Comments about Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
This mouthpiece is good for starters. Tends to be a little bit loud. When I used it in a middle school band it never broke, chipped, or left white spit marks on it. It has no baffle, and has a squared interior.
