First, ordering through music123.com was quick and easy. My order arrived as promised, with no problems.

As for the Selmer Soloist mouthiece, this is a throw-back to the early Selmer mouthpieces of the 1950's-60's. When you look into the chamber, you see it has a more rounded entrance, than the S80 or other mouthpieces. THis aparently gives it a darker sound, which is more desirable for classical playing. I did find this to be the case. I found the mouthpiece very easy responding and very easy to control, sound and intonation. Of course, the right reed also makes a difference, so you have to try many. For the classical sound, I have found the french cut reeds best, and can recommend the Hemke reeds that Rico puts out. I tried their more expensive reeds, but they didn't have the response of the Hemke's. So if classical playing is your thing, and you don't have the Selmer Soloist, you owe it to yourself to get one.
