Overall a very nice mouthpiece. I don't play my Selmer S80 C* very often as I have gone for a brighter, louder tone, but those looking for a very nice fluid, controllable, pure tone would definitely love this mouthpiece. VERY good for classical. However, those doing jazz or fusion should look elsewhere.

This mouthpiece was with me through some good times and some of the bad. It has a very stuffy sound but is very controllable, and the altissimo is ok on the mouthpiece. Reeds are difficult to find for it so that it will sound ok. This is not the best mouthpiece. After switching to a Meyer 5, I immediately noticed a tone difference. My sound was louder and more clear, and the jazz sound I was looking for was coming right from my horn. Though the Selmer C** is a great classical mouthpiece, it just doesn't seem to hold its own in the jazz world.

Great Mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
Contrary to common belief this is a great mouthpiece. No matter if you're playing jazz or classical, with the right skill it does both. great control in all ranges.

A great all around mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
This was the first good mouthpiece I ever had and I still really like it. Clear, focused sound that's great for classical/ensembles. I use Vandoren classical 2.5 reeds on it.

A Wonderful mouthpiece Contrary to some belief
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I first Bought this mouthpiece when I was in 7th grade because I dropped my Selmer gold tone back then I had no clue what C* was until last year. I recommend this mouthpiece for the intermediate player and I love it!

Great Classical mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I bought a C** for the larger tip. This mouthpiece has great projection without losing the classical sound. This is a flexible mouthpiece and is worth every penny.

Good all around sound.
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I've been playing my S80 C* for about a year and the resulting sound is pleasing to the ear. The mouthpiece is very reed-friendly and compliments many types of music including; jazz, classical (especially),ect. This is an allaround good mouthpiece for the beginner who wants a pro sound, and professional alike! I highly recommend this mouthpiece.

A Good Overall Setup!!
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I thought this mouthpiece beat the Meyer 6S, because of it's smooth and controlled tone quality. Some would describe it sound as dark or warm. I think the is also very versitile. For example you couldn't play Meyer(a jazz piece) easily in a classical ensemble, but you could more easily use a Selmer in both a classical ensemble or a jazz ensemble.

Sounds great and affordable
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I've been using an S80 C* in concert band for over a year now and I love it(I use a metal Berg Larsen for Jazz), and while there are better mouthpieces out there, if you're looking for a great mouthpiece without paying a ridiculous amount of money, this is the one for you.

Perfect mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I've been playing a C* since grade 7 while I was on a Bundy 2 and now I'm in my first year of university studying jazz sax with my Selmer serii III. Whilst this mouth piece doesn't really offer a bright tone for me, (and I am beginning to look for another mouthpiece for that) this is a mouthpiece everyone should own. It's intonation is perfect, it can play loud and soft. However as a soloist it doesn't really allow for my tone to stand out. But that isn't the reason for owning this mouth piece. This mouth piece is great for all around work, and what it does allow is versatility, and stability all at once. It is a perfect mouth piece both for the student and for the serious player.

Great Mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris S80 Series Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I switched from a vito mouthpiece that came stock with my rental to this mouthpiece and man is it awesome. It was a little hard to get used to at first because it isnt as easy to play for the first couple of days. But once you get your air controlled, you will be fine. It gave me beautiful tone and many compliments. A little hard to use on yamahas bacause the neck is a little thick but cork grease helps. All in all its a great mouthpiece.
