It's the best because it has a ROUND chamber and a long closed lay. The round chamber make the sound homogenous throughout the entire range. The closed lay permits rapid articulation not possible in other mouthpieces. The long lay makes a 3 reed on this mouthpiece feel like a 3 1/2. It is the only mouthpiece that I've ever used that is capable of getting that string-like quality found in the French school of saxophone playing. I use this mouthpiece with a Mark VI alto, Rovner dark lig and Classique 3 reeds. If you are looking for the perfect classical alto mouthpiece look no further...this is it.

Larry Teal alto mpc
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I use a horn known worldwide for its bright and overbearing tonal presence, the Yamaha Custom Z. While I have been using the Rousseau NC5 for classical music, I felt I needed a darker piece for ensemble playing. When I stopped by the local music store, I tried the Selmer LT and was floored by its homogenous tone through the registers and its purring rather than screaming quality. I am using it in combination with BG GP-tradition ligature and Vandoren V12 reeds (strength 3).

A fine mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I've owned approx 10 sax mouthpieces. I gradually sold all of them and now use the LT exclusively. The LT produces the sound i hear in my head, namely- classic French warm dark sound. Mine is one of the older ones but if the new ones are true to the original design, round chamber and long facing you will have a great mouthpiece and a unique tone.

Good Mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
The mouthpieces opening a little close so it takes a little getting use to. It has excellent altissimo control, response, and tone. It makes the reeds feel a little softer so I would suggest a 3 Vandoren. Excellent for classical, and it is the mouthpiece Lynn Klock uses in his Vintage Flora recording. Overall excellent buy.

singing quality
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
This is a very good mouthpiece for classical musicians. It tuned my Selmer series III alto very nicely. The middle C is not flat anymore! I tried it against all the Selmer mouthpieces and the A20 Vandoren. I got and this one is truly the best one! I got complimented by my high school teacher and my piano accompanist for my solos I'm working on! The secret is the round chamber! It makes every note sound nice. This is the best classical mouthpiece!

It's really good
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I wouldn't exactly say that this mouthpiece makes a 3 reed sound like a 3 1/2 because I usually use a 3 reed on my Selmer c* and when I played on the Teal the reed actually felt softer. Other then that, this mouthpiece really can sing and intonation is awesome.

great mouthpiece
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
I've tried many alto sax mouthpieces and I found the teal works the best for me. It really gives a nice warm and dark sound with out the edge of the C* and C**. It's helped a great deal.

Outstanding
Comments about Selmer Paris Larry Teal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:
This mpc is really great I use it for classical and it gives me that dark round sound that I've been always looking for. My band director has complemented me several times on my classical solos for good tone and I give credit to this mpc. Its really great. Try it with a Rovner Lig and atleast size 3 reeds.
