A better reed.
Here are 5 reasons to play Vintage reeds: A richer, more vibrant and woody quality for the type of sound many leading reed players prefer. Greater vibration potential and livelier response. Resistance to warping, splitting, crinkling at the tip, or waterlogging. Meticulous manufacturing techniques maximize the number of good reeds per box. The exceptional quality of the organically grown Australian cane results in reeds that last longer than other brands.

Best reeds yet
Comments about Reeds Australia Vintage XL Bb Clarinet Reeds:
I just got these XL's about a week and a half ago, and they are the best I have tried yet. Before trying these I was using Vandoren selects and Gonzales FOF reeds. These are more consistent, darker, smoother, more resonant, project better and last longer than either (which are very good reeds). They are also much cheaper than Vandoren selects. So far a have tried 5, and 4 are playing great (the other is okay, but not great). I use an M-13 mouthpiece with a Vandoren Klassik ligature (greatest ligature ever) on an old Buffet R-13 (from the 60's).

the best I've tried yet
Comments about Reeds Australia Vintage XL Bb Clarinet Reeds:
I used Vandoren reeds for six years, and far too many people still use them simply because they're what you find in the local music store. I'm still continuing my quest to find the best reed I can, but this is the best I've found so far, at least.Out of all the reeds I've tried, I've found that these give me the most control over the instrument (especially when jumping from one register to another), and provide the most uniform sound throughout all registers of the clarinet. They've simply given me the best tone I've ever had. period.Oh and if you seem to have a 'fuzzy' tone like this other person did... I would recommend getting a softer reed (because this is in fact a harder reed than the Vandoren, and not every brand of reed uses the same strength ratings).

A great buy
Comments about Reeds Australia Vintage XL Bb Clarinet Reeds:
These reeds are among the best. Although it is necessary for you to produce more air than the typical reed, the quality of tone exceeds that of most other reeds. The alive, rich full-bodied tone in all registers is perfect for professionals. These reeds are also perfect for students who are looking to tremendously increase the quality of their tone. They also last a lot longer than most reeds.

Ok reeds, but not the best
Comments about Reeds Australia Vintage XL Bb Clarinet Reeds:
I have played on many kinds of reeds. As a solo Clarinet player I find that only the best reeds will fit the bill. I have found that these reeds give a strong, but fuzzy kind of sound. I also found that these reeds need a lot of air to produce sound. I would recommend Rico Grand Concert, and Vandoern reeds as I have found them to be the best.
