Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

I've used Protec cases for years. I've been very fortunate. I've never dropped my case or had it abused. Wore one out to the point the cover was threadbare.

BUT - the other night I placed my case with my horn inside as I always do on an elevated surface. I turned to put my jacket up and heard a serious clunk. The chair I placed my case on had fallen to the floor, along with my case of course. About a 3 foot fall. Not even a solid drop. Just teetered over.

I opened the case and did a quick look at the stack and worked the keys. Everything seemed fine.

I couldn't play worth a darn that night. Blamed it on the reeds. Then my buddy says - "What happened to your horn?"

Here's what I found - Bell is totally bent into an ovoid shape and the rim is pulled down like a pouty lip. Nothing below low C# will seat. Looks like the bell is torqued/twisted. And that's just the easily visible damage. The horn is totally unplayable.

No more a Protec fan. I would recommend staying totally away from this case if you're looking for instrument protection.

great case

Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

This case is great. I have a King Cleveland B-13 alto sax and it fits perfectly. An advantage is the shoulder strap for easy mobility. The outside pouch is also handy. I plan on using this case for symphonic and marching band. The only problem, if you have pets that shed a lot, plan on getting hair on the case. A vacuum and packing tape works well to remove the hair. Besides that this is a wonderful case.

Nice case, great price.

Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

I have a Buffet Crampon S1 alto sax, which has a larger bell then some other saxophones, so I was concerned as to whether or not the case would be large enough for it. It turns out that this case actually has too much room, especially where the top of the stack rests. A folded hand towel along the front of the bell and a rolled up chamois near the top of the stack fixed the problem for me. I was also looking for a case that would be sturdy enough to protect my saxophone. This case is as sturdy, if not more so, than the case my horn came in. This is a very attractive case with great storage space, especially in the outer pouch. I like the shoulder strap too, it comes in very handy. If you are looking for a really good saxophone case without spending a lot of money, this is the one.

all in one case

Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

This is the case to rule them all. Great protection, enough storage to hold all your music and other tools in one place, and it looks cool. The only complaint is that it's a little on the large size, but nothing unbearable. I've been playing long enough to know, this case will more than make up for it in accessibility.

Excellent case

By Jack E. Wright

from Charleston, WV

Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

This is a fantastic alto sax case. Very well made and sturdy. I weight over 300 lbs and I can sit on the case when it is in it's carrying position. It is somewhat lighter in weight than the factory case my Cannonball Big Bell alto came in and has much more storage space. The problem that older ProTec cases had with the inside storage compartment coming open has been fixed in this case. Very nice outer storage pouch too.

'The case"

By Mendel

from N.Y.

Comments about Protec Standard Alto Sax PRO PAC Case:

This case is very good for people who travel a lot. It has a very heavy thick layer of cushioning and a strap like a briefcase, so you can just run around without noticing it. I originally bought it for overnight camp and it was a savior. I brought it on all overnights. Plus, it is square so you can easily pack it. For safety no one can tell it is a saxaphone case. I highly recommend it to everyone.
