Great sounding

Comments about La Voz Tenor Saxophone Reeds:

These reeds are probably the most versatile out there. On my S80 C* with an MH reed, I hear probably the most resonant tone I've ever played, with a reddish tonal quality. It is very full and focused in all registers, but still spreads to fill an entire room effortlessly. For the S80, I'd say these are the best reeds. I'd imagine that softer reeds would be nice for jazz mouthpieces too, especially a Link. I'll have to try that on mine sometime.

Nice reed, but strength grading can cause headaches

Comments about La Voz Tenor Saxophone Reeds:

I think LaVoz reeds work particularly well on brighter sounding mpcs, as they have a nice clean, but darker harmonic pallette. I don't think they're quite as buzzy as Rico Jazz, Rico Royal, or V-16 etc. We all know that reeds are inconsistent from reed to reed, box to box. In the case of LaVoz though, the strength seems to vary even more so than any other brand. I've played Med Hrd's that are as soft as a weak #3, and as hard as a #4.5. There's a large jump in strength from Medium to Med Hard. Which in my opinion, corresponds to a 2.5 to a 3.5. This may annoy you folks that like a #3 strength.

Works well for jazz pieces, especially brighter mpcs

Comments about La Voz Tenor Saxophone Reeds:

LaVoz reeds are interesting, because they don't seem to play like any other brand of reed. They strike me as much "cleaner-sounding." They work particularly well w/ brighter sounding mpcs, as they help darken and round things out a bit. The only potential drawback is the strength grading. There's big gaps between medium and medium hard (like 2.5 right to 3.5) then medium hard to hard (which is like a 4.5). Also, there seems to be a great amount of variabilty within any one strength. Nevertheless, I'm revisting LaVoz after 10 years of playing Royals and Rico Jazz. I use Medium Hard w/ my metal Berg (105/3) and they sound great.
