Small flute with big flute features

Comments about Jupiter 313S Prodigy Flute:

I recently purchased this flute for my 6 year old son. It is a perfect fit for him, and has a great sound. I played several of my own pieces with this flute, and it maintained its intonation, was able to jump between octaves with ease, and the mechanism was smooth and quick. I also tried the 515FS which has both curved and straight heads with a regular body, and it responded just as well. I wish I had had a flute that played this well when I was starting out. A good first instrument makes a huge difference in the success of a young student.

Fantastic!

Comments about Jupiter 313S Prodigy Flute:

This is fantastic! As I play flute, piano, AND violin, I know the value of the proper size of instrument! I have been playing piano for almost 11 years. I have had chronic tension problems due to my small hands. Recently I tried out a piano with 7/8 size keys, and my tension problems vanished. Similarly with violin, does a 4-year-old student begin with a full size instrument? NO! But because of the proportional adjustments, the transition from a 1/4 to a 1/2 to a 3/4 to a full size is not overly difficult. Bravo to Jupiter for creating a "1/4 size" flute. I have played this flute, and had a 6-year-old try it, and it works fantastically!

Jupiter Prodigy

Comments about Jupiter 313S Prodigy Flute:

This flute is perfect for the young flutist. I have had several students use this flute. Many of them start at age 3 or 4. When the students are big enough they easily switch to a regular curved headjoint flute then eventually on to a straight flute. Its a smooth and easily process for the students. This flute and case are very durable and the sound quality is outstanding.

perfect for young players

By Amy O.

from Williamston, MI

Comments about Jupiter 313S Prodigy Flute:

I first used this flute 4 years ago with 2 first grade students. Both had no trouble moving to full sized flutes last year. My own daughter has been playing one for the last year (she will be 6 in 3 weeks). Not only is it easy for small hands, but the tone is smooth and free blowing for small lungs.

recommended

Comments about Jupiter 313S Prodigy Flute:

Plays very well, beautiful tone. This kind of flute is often recommended for the (rare) player who starts at age SIX. For a 6-year old it is simply perverse to try to play on the normal flute. Most players do not start that young, for that very reason. A teenager should definitely not try to play this flute, the holes are too close together. But for a 6 year old, it has just the right proportions, so their muscles will learn the right sort of movements, and not try to tense and stretch too much, as would be needed on a normal size flute.
