Wonderful Intermediate Piece

By Tyler-t3186

from East Coast

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

After playing the stock piece that I had come with my Selmer USA sax, I decided, based on some of my friends who also had this piece, that I would give it a try. I was not disappointed. The piece has a very nice tone and noticeable increases both projection and intonation capabilities. This mouthpiece also works very well with many different players, and everyone in my section save some freshman has or has used and enjoyed this mouthpiece and it's benefits. When I purchased my Yanagisawa saxophone, the Premiere also exceeded the Yani mouthpiece that came with the sax in overall tone (however I used the Yani mouthpiece on several occasions when we travelled to larger stadiums for the extra edge and brighter, more noticeable tone). I also bought a Selmer S80 C* shortly thereafter and it exceeds my Premiere in a concert setting due to the smooth, rounded and very focused tone it provides as a concert piece. As such, while the Premiere surpassed in both projection and edge, and in the concert hall by a fuller tone and more flowing nature, it is a great intermediate piece and I still use it often in marching band. I recommend it to anyone with a stock mouthpiece and a limited budget (like myself at the time I bought the piece!) wishing to move to bigger and better things, as well as a backup piece.

The search is over for alto players if you in to the good sound

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I spent a lot of cash trying every single Alto Mouthpiece out there. Like I said before this is it if you like the Art Pepper, Jackie Mclean, Phil Woods, and Kenny Garrett just to name few use Premier by Hite Alto mouthpiece.

Great Mouthpiece

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

Hite mouthpieces are some of the highest quality mouthpieces on the market and yet nobody hears too much about them. They have great intonation, a rich full sound and play easily all over the horn. Great investment for the serious player or if you just want to have fun.

Nice Value per dollar Mouthpiece

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

I prefer rubber over acrylic, but at the price of this mouthpiece, it does a great job.I use it with Vandoren Java 2 1/2 's and a Rovner fabric ligature, # 1RL, if I'm not mistaken. The sound is robust & loud, with good clarity and tone color, and not much edge to speak of. The baffle is low. Not overly bright with good uniform thickness in the tone, throughout the range (Bb to high F), but definitely not for those who like dark sounding & mellow mouthpieces. Not the easiest mouthpiece for a beginner. Reed placement with the Java's is critical, as the table could be wider.Try the mouthpiece yourself if you want a good sounding mouthpiece that can cut through the mix with good clean tone at a bargain price.

Excellent mouthpiece

By Spencer-2-mCr

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

When one of my parent's friends gave me their old saxophone, they gave me two mouthpieces. As soon as could tell the difference, the Premiere by Hite was clearly so much better (and didn't chip when the other stock mouthpiece did). It helped produce a excellent sound even after 6 years of playing.

A Great mouthpiece

By Rich4444

from Wisconsin

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

This is one of the best mouthpieces I have ever used, and I've used many! The only better mouthpiece I've used for jazz is my Rovner, which is metal and considerably more expensive. I would highly suggest this mouthpiece if you want a quality sound that is easy to control including altissimo ranges. You will be hard pressed to find a better mouthpiece. A truly experienced saxophonist will appreciate the sound quality this mouthpiece will provide.

Very flexible and reliable

By Jessica--mp5-

Comments about J & D Hite Premiere Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece:

This is a very good mouthpiece. I just started playing last year and I got this new mouthpiece at Christmas time. Ever since I have played much better and my Band teacher has told every woodwind to try and get this kind of reed! He agrees that they are flexible and reliable.
