Comments about Gemeinhardt Model 33SSB Professional Flute:
I have play tested and compared the 33ssb alongside the Powell signature all sterling flute. Both instruments are well made and are in my view capable of providing the discerning flute player with highly professional responsiveness and excellent tonal possibilities. I have found the 33ssb to be a more compliant instrument over all, giving a resonant tone much more easily than the Powell. Both flutes have secure, solid, well articulated key mechanisms, However the 33ssb has a lighter feel to the machanism. If anything I would say that Powell has a marginally finer finish to it's overall manufacture and more pleasing curves to the key touches of the foot joint. Generally I think these flutes compare well and dollar for dollar If you can't afford a Powell Signature Flute then the 33ssb is a fine competitor in my view.
