I liked this swab the first few times I used it, because it seemed to work nicely. But when I washed it for the first time, the weight came out and the pull started to rip off completely. Now it's really hard to get through my clarinet, and is more trouble than it's worth. The silk swabs, in my experience, are more durable.

I've used this swab for my alto sax since I was 14, and it's been perfect, especially for drying the mouthpiece and neck. As a band director, I've had lots of trouble with the fake-chamois rectangle swabs that come with most clarinet care kits--they always seem to get stuck on the post inside the register key tone hole. I've had countless numbers of those swabs break off inside the clarinet, but not one of these "handkerchief" swabs--and I have no problem with it on my own clarinet as well. Tip: make sure the "handkerchief" part is fully open before you swab your instrument. I also like that the weight is wrapped in cotton so no metal touches your horn. Strongly recommended for all clarinet and sax players. Will last for many, many years.

This is the best swab you can get really simply because it's so lightweight. This prevents any damage to the inside of your instrument... the cotton is washable too so it will last for quite some time. I high recommend it.
