This is my first oboe I have bought and it is wonderful. I love the spacing of the keys because my hands are smaller and it isn't as far a reach like on a selmer.

The Buffet 4052 is a wonderful oboe. Although it is an intermediate/pro oboe, it is an oboe I would suggest to any beginner looking at buying an oboe. It is easy to play, and you will not have to buy another oboe for a very logn time, or unless you decide to play professionally. Although it seems pricey for your first oboe, it will last you a lifetime. The action is great, and you get the most keys for your money. It's a great buy. The only diff. between it and the pro Buffet 5313 is four trill keys. These are not needed and for the difference of $3,200 in price, the 4052 is a bargain!

The Price for this instrument is a Steel. It has that great Buffet wood that gives it great tone and sound. The down side is that like most oboes the keywork sometimes gets out of adjustment, but once repaired it is awesome. BUY THIS OBOE.

This oboe is the best that I've ever seen! Its tone quality is unrivaled by any other brands that I've tried, such as Selmer and Fox. The B flat resonance and the F resonance key make a huge tone difference, and the third octave key enables me to get the notes above C more in tune. This is a great oboe that is truly worth the price. When I went to All-State auditions, all of the other oboe players were playing on Buffet 4052's and I was playing on a Fox 330. This is truly a magnificent oboe that has an amazing tone quality!!

This instrument is a truly wonderful instrument. It features a lot of the features of the higher end models with the exception of the banana key, and split D/E ring. It has a wonderful warm and round tone. It's very suitable in the orchestral and wind ensemble settings or for the doubler or hobbyist. The epoxy resin finish is great for those students who maybe rough on an instrument. This pre-professional instrument is extremely sturdy, but has the finesse of a professional instrument in style and in sound! A great buy for the young student through middle school and high school. But for a professional model oboe, choose the greenline or goldline series of this brand.

I think this instrument is fantastic. I have been so pleased with my 4052! I owned a buffet greenline pro model (until it was stolen) but the sound is very comparable. For a serious student, this instrument is great.It has almost all the bells and whistles that you would find on pro instruments.

This is a nice oboe in durability terms. I am a student and I dropped it by mistake and it would have cracked (what I did to my school's Selmer), but the epoxy resin lined bore prevented it. It has a nice sound.
