For less than you'd pay for a piece of sheet music, you're saving yourself from potentially hundreds of dollars in doctor visits, therapy sessions, etc. Originally, flutes were all made of wood, and the wood was thick enough that the flutist didn't have to bend his or her hand backwards to hold it up to play. However, with thinner walled metal flutes, this is not the case. The hand must bend backward at the base of the index finger just to support the flute. With the finger saddle, the tension caused by such an awkward position is alleviated, reducing the risk of carpal tunnel and other musculoskeletal disorders. I highly recommend it. It's adhesive free and being made of plastic can't harm your flute. It just snaps on and off.
